Summary: We loved our week-long stay upstairs at the Lilikoi. Just a 10-minute drive up the hill from crowded downtown Kona, this beautiful property is nested in gorgeous lush gardens surrounded by chickens, fruit and coffee trees. There is a large beautiful lanai with a big dining table and a view over the hills to the ocean. There is a full kitchen and living room, 3 bedrooms and 3 baths - my room was beautiful with a lavish bathroom! Everything is clean and tastefully decorated. It is much cooler up in the hills than in town or on the coast so not only did I not mind not having AC, I slept more soundly than usual under the ceiling fan with croaking frogs and birds lulling in the background. The Lilikoi was the perfect base for us to explore the Big Island and we always felt like we were coming 'home' like real Hawaiians.
